INTRODUCTION

The global economy is putting huge pressure on organisations. We need to look at costs and seek out waste. Lean Production is the number one “hot button” for all managers. Lean is essential to survival.

An organisation that focuses on lean principles is able to produce more with existing resources and eliminate activities that are non-value added. This workshop is for individuals seeking a clear foundation and understanding of lean principles. The highly interactive, hands-on workshop makes lean thinking and manufacturing principles easy to understand and appealing to achieve. These concepts and principles will be described and put in context to explain how they can be applied within an office as well as the manufacturing environment.

Participants will become a member of the production team for Buzz Electronics that adopts Lean World-Class thinking to increase productivity and improve its competitive position. The group simulation will enable participants to apply lean concepts such as standardized work, visual signals, batch-size reduction, pull systems, and more.
