To ensure that organisations are best placed to remain competitive in the future, the Centre for Competitiveness has developed a range of assessment tools and techniques, which have the primary objective of determining ability to compete.

Applicable in any organisational context, the assessment process incorporates the benchmarking of processes, systems and key performance indicators using best practice. The various assessment tools are closely linked to the EFQM Excellence Model and recognised Benchmarking Databases and are adaptable to the maturity level of an organisation on its improvement journey.

Organisation Assessment

To assist organisations across all sectors adopt a structured integrated approach to identifying capability and managing improvement, a range of assessment tools have been developed.

  • Competitiveness Assessment - (linked to the structured Benchmark Database which facilitates comparison against practices and performance in a variety of sectoral groups), suitable for public, private and voluntary organisations.
  • ePathways to Excellence Assessment - developed for SME's, this approach allows for on-line facilitated assessment, resulting in feedback reports to help focus improvement planning.
  • BETA (Business Excellence Through Action) - a first step approach to reviewing capability, BETA was developed by the UK Excellence Federation
  • Innovation Assessment - Centre for Competitiveness have developed an international partnership to provide the on-line innovation capability assessment WAVE™. Some 200 organisations are involved in a 2 year international development process, to help promote a range of innovation improvement tools.
