ADS - Aerospace, Defence and Security

SC21 is a change programme designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace & defence industry by raising the performance of its supply chains. It is promoted by over 30 Prime/OEM company - all the major players including Tier 1 companies. If you are a supplier to one of these prime/OEM customers e.g. Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, GKN, and so on, then why not approach them about being sponsored through the SC21 process? Recognition is awarded at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of benchmarked performance.

Centre for Competitiveness is the SC21 Strategic Partner for both Ireland and Northern Ireland for all of the elements list on the SC21 web site, click here for details.

International competition, together with the challenges posed by the defence industrial strategy, necessitates rapid improvement in the effectiveness of our supply chains. At the same time, industry must ensure that it delivers competitive solutions for customers whilst maintaining profitable business growth.

Through participating in SC21 your business will also understand better how the industry will be changing in the future and you will be kept aware of developments in the sector and the activities regarding your colleagues on the SC21 programme.

The total number of companies committed to SC21 doubled within two months of its launch in 2006. Now in 2017 we are seeing over a 100 new companies signing up to the programme every year. The more companies that join this initiative, the greater the benefit to the UK supply chain. The risk however, to those businesses that have not embraced SC21, or more importantly continuous improvement, and therefore are not progressing (on the industry designed and owned) programme, may lose out to those who are proactively engaging.

Northern Ireland - has a rich and consistently successful track record in aerospace, defence and space, with many manufacturing companies recognised at bronze and silver levels of performance. In addition, selective financial assistance may be available from Invest NI.

Ireland - the aerospace sector, whilst relatively small, is fast growing and sales and exports opportunities are being recognised and won by increasing number of Irish manufacturing companies. There is a small group of bronze recognised companies, and many other progressing through their SC21 programme. In addition, selective financial assistance may be available from Enterpise Ireland.
